Built for Palestine Railways as a day saloon, rebuilt 1929 as a night saloon with 6 sleeping berths. The saloon carriages operated until the 1960s. They conveyed visiting dignitaries, wealthy passenger and railway officials. Among those who used them were Emperor Haile Selassie I of Ethiopia, the King and Queen of Belgium and David Ben-Gurion, Israel's first prime-minister. |
