Originally built for British Rail as a 2nd Class carriage of their Mark 2C design. In 1977 Israel Railways purchased 8 second-hand vehicles of this type. It numbered them as 681-688 and used them as special reserved-seats carriages. The last were withdrawn from service in 1997 after structural defects appeared in them.
